Description of the Main Street Latin Festival for Media Use (modify as needed)
More than 10,000 people flock to downtown Columbia every fall to celebrate and share Latin culture through its food, art, dance, and music in a fun, family-oriented environment.
Established in 2003, endorsed by the city of Columbia, and supported by South Carolina Hispanic Outreach, the purpose of the Main Street Latin Festival is to showcase the culture and vitality of Columbia’s Latin community.
The streets of beautiful downtown Columbia are filled with the sounds of salsa, meringue, reggaeton and grupero music. Folkloric dancers share dances that have been long been a part of their culture. Vendors sell Latin gifts and souvenirs, as well as traditional cuisine that crowds form long lines to savor.
